Evidence-based practice (EBP) is critical in the ever-changing world of healthcare. Most nurses have heard about it. Some learned it in their undergraduate, graduate or doctoral programs. Some have never had any exposure to EBP in school or the real world. Do you have a culture that supports EBP where you practice?

This year AMSN is celebrating its 30th anniversary. It is exciting to think of everything AMSN has accomplished in the past 30 years and to look ahead to the future of medical-surgical nursing. On a personal note, it is astounding to me that I have been a part of AMSN for half of those 30 years. That is nearly as long as I have been married!

Everyone is familiar with most of the holidays in February, the most familiar probably being Valentine’s Day. It’s a day to let friends, family and lovers know how much they mean to us and that we are thinking of them. But did you also know that February 17 is National Random Acts of Kindness Day? Or that the 19th is National Caregivers Day? 

In recognition and support of Black History Month, which is from February 1st to March 1st, I thought it would be helpful to provide some background on the month and some celebrations/resources you can explore to learn more.
