Nursing has always been a profession with constantly changing dynamics, expectations, and lived realities. As nurses we recognize the impact of change on the care we provide to our patients, families, and the communities we serve.

As I begin my term as AMSN’s President, I want to thank Robin Hertel for her service as our President for the past two years.

We’re now into the 2020 holiday season, with Thanksgiving last week and Christmas, Yule, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa later this month.

Today on National Transgender Remembrance Day (November 20), I would like to talk to you about taking care of transgender affirmation surgical patients.

We are all facing what I deem as apocalyptic nursing. None of us expected to be working under these conditions and I think it is appropriate terminology given the circumstances that we are facing.
